Accessibility statement

Note: this is a translation for your convenience. The German version of this text is the legally binding one.

Scope and date

This statement applies to the website sylviotherapie.de including all subpages in German, English and Spanish, the contact form, appointment booking and the forest stories. I strive to make this website accessible in line with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), its ordinance (BFSGV) and the harmonised standard EN 301 549. The technical basis is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

Date of this statement: 14/10/2026.

Compliance status

Based on my own assessment, this website is largely compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. The assessment is based on a self-review of the source code, keyboard testing and automated tests with axe (WCAG 2.1 A and AA) on 14/10/2026. The home page, forest stories, places overview, a place page with photo gallery, FAQ, partner page, privacy policy and this statement were tested on desktop in light mode and on a smartphone in dark mode; no violations were found. It is not based on an external audit.

Measures implemented

  • Semantic structure with one clear main heading per page, a hierarchical outline and one main content area per page.
  • A “Skip to content” link as the first interactive element on every page.
  • Full keyboard operability and visible focus outlines on all links, buttons and form fields; the header menu works with arrow keys and Escape.
  • Touch targets of at least 44 × 44 pixels for reliable use on touch devices.
  • The places on the map are also available as a text list; the map itself is not a required source of information.
  • Photo galleries with an enlarged view that works with the keyboard (arrow keys, Escape), buttons and swiping, and shows the caption and position (“Image 3 of 12”).
  • Photo carousel without automatic rotation, with labelled previous and next buttons.
  • Videos never start automatically; they load only after clicking a labelled button and can also be opened via a text link.
  • External links are marked and only open after confirmation in an accessible dialog that names the destination.
  • Share buttons and social media links have visible text or screen reader labels; feedback such as “Link copied” is announced.
  • The cookie notice can be operated by keyboard and offers equally prominent buttons to accept and decline.
  • Descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text and control contrast meets level AA in light and dark mode; colour is never the only means of conveying information.
  • Labelled form fields with required fields indicated, text error messages next to the affected field and status messages announced by screen readers.
  • Content in German, English and Spanish with correct page language and marked-up foreign-language quotes; layouts support zoom up to 200 % and portrait orientation.
  • Motion is reduced when “reduce motion” is set in the operating system; there is no flashing content and no auto-playing sound.
  • Fonts are served by this website itself; the display does not depend on external providers.

Known limitations

  • Appointment booking is provided by meetergo. I am not fully responsible for the accessibility of this service. If booking does not work well for you, you can always arrange an appointment by email, phone, WhatsApp or the contact form.
  • The OpenStreetMap maps have a text description naming the marked places. Individual map tiles are treated as decorative; street layouts and terrain details are not fully transcribed. All mapped places are also available in a structured text list with short descriptions and links to their detail pages.
  • Embedded YouTube videos come from third parties; not all of them have subtitles or audio description. The articles are fully understandable without the videos.
  • The content is not available in Easy Language or German Sign Language. On request, I am happy to explain content personally.
  • Nature and forest therapy takes place mostly outdoors. Terrain, paths and weather can limit accessibility on site. We discuss in advance which formats suit you.
